RVing for the win. This is a sponsored post. All opinions are my own.
Our family has taken many a road trip, but never quite like this. I certainly can’t tell you who had the best time on the RV because we all enjoyed it so much.
Let’s start off with a video tour of our awesome 2020 Winnebago Minnie Winnie from Go RVing. ( https://gorving.com/ ) Clearly, it’s anything but mini!!
So where are we off to???
We started from New Jersey and headed down to North Carolina for my cousin’s wedding. We have a very big family. My dad is one of 8 children, which means I am the oldest of 20 first cousins. So, this is also like a family reunion weekend. Which makes it even better.

Family Time
One of the biggest advantages to go RVing instead of staying in a standard hotel room was being able to spend the down time together in it. I can not stress enough how much bigger it felt inside compared to a hotel room. I hate when there’s only a small desk, maybe two chairs and then we all end up sitting on the beds. Even just having a table that we could all sit around made such a big difference. When my daughter woke up she would just come out of the bedroom, grab a toy and go straight to the table. It’s like we have been RVing for years.

Even though my entire family was staying at the hotel, our RV was the meeting hub for the whole day. At one point or another, every one of my relatives came to hang out in here.

Before it was time to get ready for the wedding, we had some chill time. It was so nice being able to get a bunch of us cousins into the RV. We had plenty of room for everyone. Some of us sat around the table and snacked. Some of us lounged on the couch, which also turned into a full size bed.
One of my younger cousins even took a nap on the top cabin bunk. We loved that this bunk had the privacy curtain making it such a cozy little area and the perfect spot.

My husband wanted to check out the local football game. We asked around to see who wanted to come with us. It was great that we could all fit into the RV together instead of having to take separate and multiple cars. And as a mom, I didn’t have to pack a bag, or drinks or snacks or the 37 other things you need when you leave the house with kids, because everything was inside the RV! We could just pull up and enjoy.

Bathroom on Board
I think this feature speaks for itself. But have you ever traveled with a 4 year old? I could ask my daughter 4 times in a row if she has to go to the bathroom. Two minutes later, she’s urgently screaming, “pee pee on the potty!” Then in a panic, my husband and I search for the closest possible restroom. It was the best thing ever having a bathroom inside the RV. Not to mention, much cleaner than gas stations or rest areas.
The trip from New Jersey to North Carolina is approximately 11 hours so not having to stop for every single bathroom break was helpful. Especially with 2 small kids, they think once they are out of the car they are free. It’s tough to wrangle them back into their car seats when you are trying to make it a quick pit stop.
Don’t worry, I won’t be sharing any pictures of us in here. However, I do wish I snapped a quick picture to show how big it was. If I had to compare, it was at least 3 times the size of an airplane bathroom, complete with cabinets and storage.

Sleeping Arrangements
We have roadtripped to North Carolina a bunch of times with the kids. The very first time, my son was just 3 months old and my daughter, 18 months old. Now with them bring a little older (4 and 3), we usually have to make a stop over at the halfway point. It just becomes too many hours straight in the car. Even with stops to stretch the legs, finding the random playgrounds, play places and parks. Sometimes you just need to get a good night’s sleep. Are we still talking about my young children or my husband? Not sure… but it can make the trip a lot more enjoyable.

My only downfall in packing for this RVing trip was not bringing enough bedding for all the comfy spaces. In the main bedroom cabin, there was a queen size bed. There was a couch in the “living room” which turned into a full size bed. The top bunk cabin above was definitely bigger twin size and may have even been full size as well.

I absolutely loved that we could shut the door to the back bedroom and who ever was still asleep could be undisturbed and continue sleeping. Whoever woke up first, could come out and play at the table. We were able to turn the lights on without waking the rest of the family, which is typically what happens when we are in a hotel room. Once one kid is up, everyone else is too! Even with my kids being close in age, they are always napping at different times and never go to bed at the same time.

RVing Storage
I love that there was so much storage to put all of our stuff. When you are in a hotel, I feel like we are always tripping over all of our bags and toys. I should have counted all of the cabinets and compartments because there was so many! I am not always the most organized but this made it very easy to stay organized. When traveling with small kids I am always trying to remember any possible thing that we might need and in a hotel there just isn’t enough room.
No Checking Out
Again, if you have small children, it can take a lifetime trying to check out of a hotel. Doing the room check to make sure nothing is left behind, trying to get everyone dressed, bathroom time, and let’s be honest anything can happen. Even if you pack up the car the night before, it still takes a while to get out.
My husband joked if he woke up early, he would just get on the road. This was in fact, not a joke. He woke up at 430 am and took off with me and the kids fast asleep in the back bedroom. This worked out great for three reasons. 1. We cut time off the trip by driving with the kids sleeping. 2. I got to stay snuggled in bed. 3. We found a beautiful spot to watch the sunrise.

If I could change just one thing about this RVing trip, I wish it was longer. Until next time, we’ll miss you Minnie Winnie!! https://gorving.com/
